OWENS OWENS OWENS IS THE BEST!!! ~The House of Owens ROCKS~ I'll tell you why. That's coz OWENS came in 1st for soccer, 2nd for basketball, 3rd for tennis and 4th for netball. Cool Right?? Chinese New Year is just 'round the corner, 'round the corner, 'round the corner :D lots of hong baos, lots of luck. lots of superstitions also involved ;) Cant say much 'bt it only that i dont believe it. Sorry for the crappiness. That's coz being in the new sch has influenced me a lot *grinz* just j/k. Like my new sch. The people, the environment....it's awesome...can't say much abt the food thou. only that i usually eat from two stores and um....lets not talk abt the rest of them. I admit i miss sc thou, cant wait to go back only that i dont know when. so busy now. You'd think that first 3 mnths are for slacking. That's a dead wrong mentality coz we've got lots of projects in preparation for open house which takes place on the 3rd of feb. Really fast!!! Then also quite busy during chinese new yr. My cousin from perth's coming to stay for at least one wk during chinese new yr and have to entertain him...... that's where i wish my bro was here. Coz he's always free....ok that's not true but most of the time he's free. Oops gtg finish my project.... |

I GUESS IT'S ABOUT TIME TO BLOG AGAIN!!!! :D Been missing for quite sometime coz after prelims, i was really hardworking ;) Just kidding but i did study the most from prelims to the Os and in a few wks time, the results will be out *shudders* I have not forgotten that time flies really fast. I've done lots of interesting things after Os and managed to do what i wanted to do....sort of: Limited Resources and Unlimited Wants. Okay i'll get to that in awhile. AnYwAy, i went to Japan for one mnth! It was a great experience, coz i went without my family and stayed in three different homes in three different places. The first was in Oita, Fukuoka. I had to adjust quite a bit coz their culture compared to Singapore's is quite different. Like other there, the males are still dominant, but in terms of money the women keep it *grinz*. It's quite intimidating at times because when i go to welcome parties, I'm kinda like the only female in the whole room which is dominated by the males. So that was one thing i had to get adjusted to. Another thing was that i had no idea how to speak Japanese, i did not take any courses but still knew a few simple words like arigatocosimasu. I'm not sure if i'm spelling it correctly. Had a few lessons from my host family, who spoke a bit of English. We cheated a bit thou, used electronic devices as a translator and from there, we communicated. In Oita, went to Usuki where all the stone buddas are as well as samurai housing. It was really beautiful. The scenery which you dont get in singapore as well as the housing. It's very different. The buildings are smaller in structure as well as narrower, but the decorations of the house as well as a japanese garden is totally amazing. Very lovely. I had the chance to dress up in a kimono (which was really tight, i couldn't really breathe at times) and learned the Thurusaki Dance, famous dance in Oita. The women who danced it in the concert were graceful, the feet and hand movements were all impressive. Managed to do a bit of exercise, which i was really thankful for. :D Can't live without exercise. I mean, seriously! Exercise is an essential part for humans. So anyway, went to Beppu to see the hotsprings know as HEll. There are 8 of them but i only managed to see 2. It was gd thou. At eggs and puddings which were cooked in the hotspring itself. One more very interesting thing was that i took Fugu (pufferfish) for the first time in my entire life and i'm glad nothing happened to me. It tasted really gd too! My bro was jealous when i told him that. Haha, he's into all the weird food like horse sashimi, chicken sashimi etc... In Kobe, I stayed in Nada as well as Amagasaki. Cant write down everything coz i really did a lot in Kobe. I must say though, that the Japanese are very courteous people as well as sociable. I felt really welcomed in Japan. If they know that you're an outsider, they treat you with warmth and give you the best. Stayed with very lovely people and it was also because the lord was with me and i knew it. The lions club...Minatogawa Lions club bought me Kobe beef and cod fish(tala) to bring back to singapore and i was really touched because they knew that i liked it and took the trouble to buy it for me. Kobe beef is very expensive. It's really an experience which i'll never forgot and will carry with me for the rest of my life. Over there, you make new friends and you find that you do keep in contact with them. Not just those whom u get their business cards and not talk to them at all. My advice to you is that if you ever have an opportunity to go to Japan alone for exchange programme, seize the chance because it's a once in a life time opportunity! |
